Software developer for Barcelona businesses: multilingual websites for tourism, retail and design

If you're looking for a software developer for a business in Barcelona, here's how I work: I build websites, custom software and apps remotely from Buenos Aires, in English and Spanish. If your site needs Catalan, you supply the copy and I build the site so each language gets its own version.

What makes Barcelona different is that almost every business talks to two audiences at once: locals, who read in Catalan or Spanish, and visitors, who arrive reading English, French or Italian. A site built for only one of them leaves the other out. Here's how that plays out in tourism, restaurants, retail and creative studios.

One site, several languages, each one done properly

A language switcher isn't enough. Each version needs its own address so Google shows it to people searching in that language, its own titles and descriptions, and copy written for that reader. The visitor searching “cooking class Barcelona” and the local looking for a class for a group of friends don't use the same words.

I write and review the English and Spanish versions. For Catalan, French or Italian, you work with your own copy or a translator, and I make sure every language is complete, properly linked, and that switching languages takes you to the same page instead of back to the homepage. Tourism: small hotels, apartments and experiences

Boutique hotels in the Gothic Quarter or the Eixample, tourist apartments, walking tours, cooking classes, bike rentals or boat trips out of Port Vell: almost all of them sell through platforms that keep the customer's contact. A website of your own lets you sell directly to past guests and to people who find you on Instagram.

For an experience with limited spots, what helps most is a calendar of open dates and a form that asks just enough (group size, language, allergies if food is involved). For accommodation, it's photos that answer questions before guests ask, plus a WhatsApp button. More in website for small hotels and cabins.

Restaurants and bars: a menu anyone can read

In the Born, Gràcia or Barceloneta, one table can seat diners from several countries. A QR digital menu in several languages, with photos and clear allergen info, saves explaining every dish and lets each guest read in their own language.

I built one for Boca de Lobo, a steakhouse in Buenos Aires: a QR menu with more than 250 items, specials and locations, plus a dashboard of their own to change prices and dishes without depending on the developer. If you also want guests to order from the table, I explained it in table ordering app for restaurants.

Real case

For studios, galleries and creatives

Barcelona is full of design, architecture, photography and illustration studios, and art galleries. What they need is a site that shows the work at good quality and that they can update themselves. That's what I built for the painter Pérez Palermo: a catalog of works organized by period, with a page for each piece, which he uploads himself from his dashboard. The same approach works for a studio publishing projects or a design shop showing one-of-a-kind pieces.

Retail and property developers

Fashion, design and local-product shops in the Eixample and Gràcia sell in store and online at the same time, often to customers abroad. That's where product pages that sell come in, with good photos and copy in each language, and stock that stays in sync between the shop and the website.

And if you're a developer or architect selling new homes off the plan in Barcelona or the metro area, buyers need to see the home before it exists. That's why I built Recorrido 3D; its blog has a piece on 3D renderings and walkthroughs in Barcelona.

Working with me remotely

Barcelona is 4 or 5 hours ahead of Buenos Aires, depending on the time of year. We meet over video in your afternoon, which is my morning, and day-to-day contact runs on WhatsApp or email. You send photos, copy (in every language you want) and how you sell today; I send progress you open from a link, you sign off on each stage, and at the end you get the site up and running, with a dashboard so you can manage it yourself. The broader approach for businesses anywhere in Spain is in custom software developer in Spain.

Frequently asked questions

Do you write the Catalan copy?

No. I work in English and Spanish. If your site needs Catalan, French or Italian, you or a translator you trust provide the copy, and I build the site so each language has its own version and shows up properly on Google.

What's the time difference between Barcelona and Argentina?

Barcelona is 4 or 5 hours ahead, depending on the time of year. My morning lines up with your afternoon: a 3 p.m. meeting in Barcelona is 10 or 11 a.m. in Buenos Aires.

Can the site take bookings for a tourist apartment?

Yes, it can show availability and take direct requests or bookings. Tourist rentals have their own rules in Catalonia, and what has to appear on the site (license numbers, guest details, notices) is worth checking with a local professional.

Do you work with design or architecture studios?

Yes. A studio usually needs a site that shows its projects well and that it can update on its own. For architects and developers I also build 3D walkthroughs of homes that don't exist yet.
