Software developer for businesses in Paraguay: distributors, retailers and real estate

If you're looking for a software developer for your business in Paraguay, here's how I work: I build websites, custom software, apps and 3D tools, remotely from Buenos Aires, on the same clock as Asunción. I work on my own, in English or Spanish, with video calls and progress you can open from a link.

This isn't a generic list of services. Paraguay has a few very specific kinds of businesses where custom software pays off: distributors that supply the whole country, border retailers in Ciudad del Este, real estate agencies and developers in Asunción, and manufacturers selling metal buildings to farms and ranches. Let's take them one at a time.

Distributors: orders, stock and reps on the road

A typical Paraguayan distributor has a warehouse in Greater Asunción, reps who drive routes across the interior, and customers who order over WhatsApp at all hours. The problem is almost always the same: stock lives in one spreadsheet, prices in another, and every rep carries their own version of the catalog.

Three things help here, one at a time or together. A sales catalog app for reps that works with no signal on the road, an inventory system for distributors that tells you what's actually in the warehouse, and a wholesale ordering portal where the corner store or the supermarket orders on its own instead of waiting for a rep.

Ciudad del Este retailers: sell before they cross the border

Ciudad del Este sits on the border with Brazil and Argentina, and many shoppers come from across the bridge. They often decide before they cross: they check on their phones what each store carries, compare, and show up with a list. If your store doesn't show up, or shows an outdated catalog, that shopper goes somewhere else.

An online catalog without checkout, with photos, availability and a WhatsApp button, is usually enough. The customer asks, reserves and picks up. If you sell electronics, fragrances or anything with lots of models, the catalog should be updated from your own dashboard, because what changes is the stock, not the design. And if your shoppers read Portuguese, the site can carry both languages, with Portuguese copy that you or a translator provide.

Real estate: pre-construction and lot sales

Asunción keeps adding apartment towers, and on the outskirts developers sell subdivided lots on installment plans (locally called “loteamientos”). Either way, the buyer has to picture something that doesn't exist yet, and often that buyer is a Paraguayan living in Buenos Aires or Spain who can't come see the land.

That's why I built Recorrido 3D, my product for interactive 3D walkthroughs that help sell homes and apartments before they're built: the buyer walks through the unit on their phone before construction is finished. Its blog has a piece on 3D renderings and walkthroughs in Paraguay. If what you need is to keep listings, leads and showings organized, that's real estate agency software.

Metal building manufacturers for farms

Agriculture and cattle ranching drive a lot of steel construction: grain storage buildings, equipment sheds, horse stalls and pens. The companies that build them get inquiries with no dimensions and lose time going back and forth. A 3D configurator lets the farmer design their building (size, roof, doors) and send you the full order. I went through it in detail in 3D configurator for metal building companies, and the Estructuras 3D blog has a piece on 3D configurators for sheds and canopies in Paraguay.

Working with me remotely from Paraguay

Paraguay and Argentina are currently on the same time (UTC−3), so there's no math involved in setting up a call. The process is simple: a first video call to understand your business, a written proposal, then progress you open from a link on your phone or computer. You sign off on each stage before we move on, and day-to-day contact is by WhatsApp or email.

What you send: photos, copy, your product or property list, and how you sell today. What you get: the website, system or app up and running, with a dashboard so you can manage it yourself. I wrote more about the process in working with a remote developer.

One note: for invoicing, customer data or legal requirements in your industry, check with a local professional. I build the software to fit whatever they tell you.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a time difference between Paraguay and Argentina?

No. Paraguay and Argentina currently share the same time all year (UTC−3), so a 10 a.m. meeting in Asunción is 10 a.m. in Buenos Aires. Coordinating is like working with someone in your own city.

Do you work in Guaraní or Portuguese?

No, I work in English and Spanish. If your site needs Portuguese copy for Brazilian shoppers, you or a translator you trust provide it, and I build the site to carry both languages.

Does anyone need to travel?

No. The whole project runs over video calls, with progress you open from a link on your computer or phone, and everyday contact happens on WhatsApp or by email.

Can the system issue invoices?

That depends on what Paraguayan rules currently require for your business, which is worth checking with your accountant. Usually the system connects to whatever you already use for invoicing instead of replacing it.
