3D configurator for manufacturers in Chile: prefab homes, cabins and steel buildings

A 3D configurator lets a buyer in Chile design their prefab home, cabin or steel building on screen, with size, finishes and extras, and send you a complete quote request. I build them remotely from Buenos Aires, on the same clock as Santiago or one hour ahead depending on the time of year.

3D configurator for manufacturers in Chile: prefab homes, cabins and steel buildings

If you build prefab homes, cabins or steel buildings in Chile, a 3D configurator takes care of the most draining part of selling: the back-and-forth on WhatsApp with someone who doesn't know yet what they want. The buyer designs the model on screen, picks size and finishes, and you get a complete quote request.

I build them remotely from Buenos Aires. I work on my own, in English or Spanish, over video calls, with progress you can open from a link. Here's how it fits the kinds of manufacturers that do well in Chile, and what you'd need to send me to get started.

Chilean buyers want to see the home before asking for a price

Prefab homes are a familiar product in Chile. People buy them for a rural plot outside the city (locally called a “parcela de agrado”), for a second home on the coast, or to add a unit on the same lot. The trouble is that most buyers show up with an Instagram photo and one question: “How much is this one?”

Behind that question are a lot of variations: how many bedrooms, kit or installed, which siding, with or without a deck, which region it ships to. A 3D configurator sorts that out. The buyer tries options, sees the result, and only then contacts you, with the model already designed. I covered the general idea in modular home configurator, and the Estructuras 3D blog has a piece on a prefab home 3D configurator for Chile.

Cabins in the south: selling to someone who lives far away

Southern Chile, from Temuco and Valdivia down to Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt and Chiloé, has steady demand for cabins, both to live in and to rent out during the season. The buyer often lives in Santiago and can't drive out to the factory to see the models.

That's where the configurator becomes your showroom. The buyer spins the cabin around, changes the roof, adds a loft or a deck, and sees it in the wood or color they picked. If you sell to people setting up a group of rental cabins, they can design several units and send the whole order at once. I wrote more about this in cabin configurator for builders.

Steel buildings for farms and industry

In central and southern Chile, farming, fruit growing, dairy and forestry all need storage buildings, warehouses (Chileans call them “bodegas”) and equipment sheds. The buyer knows what they need to store but doesn't always know how to ask for it in dimensions.

A steel building configurator asks for width, length, height, roof type and doors, and sends you the spec sheet. You stop spending time quoting inquiries that go nowhere. I explained it in 3D configurator for metal building companies, and there's a piece focused on Chile about a 3D configurator for steel buildings in Chile.

Real case

A real case: EQUIBOX's 3D quote tool

EQUIBOX builds horse stalls and barns in Berazategui, near Buenos Aires. I built them a 3D quote tool where the customer designs their barn (size, model, walls and accessories), downloads the spec sheet or quote as a PDF, and requests a final price over WhatsApp. On the other end, the factory gets the inquiry fully defined and hands it to its sales team.

It's a different product, but the problem is the one a Chilean home or building manufacturer has: everything is made to order and inquiries arrive incomplete. I also have my own demo, Estructuras 3D, with steel buildings, canopies, stalls and modular homes, so you can picture what yours would look like.

What you'd send me to get started

  • The models you sell, with plans or dimensions and photos of finished builds.
  • What can change on each one: bedrooms, siding, windows, deck, roof.
  • Whether you sell kits, installed homes or both, and which regions you deliver to.
  • What details you want from the buyer and where the inquiry should land (WhatsApp, email or your sales system).
  • Your logo and brand colors.

Working with me remotely from Chile

Depending on the time of year, Chile is on the same time as Argentina or one hour behind, so scheduling is easy. We start with a video call so I understand how you sell, I send a written proposal, and then you follow progress from a link on your phone or computer. You sign off on each model before it goes live.

The configurator can sit inside your current website or live at its own address, and it works well on phones, which is where buyers open it first. If you also need to organize sales, stock or production, that's a different project: I cover it in custom software developer in Chile.

For building permits, invoicing or how you handle customer data, check with a local professional. I build the tool to fit whatever they tell you.

Frequently asked questions

What's the time difference between Chile and Argentina?

Depending on the time of year, Santiago is on the same time as Buenos Aires or one hour behind. In practice, meetings fit into office hours on both sides without any trouble.

Can the configurator show prices?

It can, if you want it to. Many manufacturers prefer that the buyer designs the model and gets the quote afterward, because shipping and installation change by region. You decide, and you can change it later.

Does it work if I sell kits and installed homes?

Yes. The configurator can ask whether the buyer wants a kit to assemble or an installed home, and which region the lot is in, so the inquiry reaches you with everything you need to quote.

Do I need 3D models of my products before we start?

No. You send me plans, photos and the list of models with their dimensions and options, and I build everything in 3D. You review each model from a link before it goes live.
