3D configurator for manufacturers in Spain: modular homes, pergolas, joinery and steel buildings

A 3D configurator lets your customer design the modular home, pergola, wardrobe or steel building on your website and send you a quote request with every dimension. I build them for manufacturers in Spain, remotely from Buenos Aires, with your catalog and your rules.

3D configurator for manufacturers in Spain: modular homes, pergolas, joinery and steel buildings

A 3D configurator for manufacturers in Spain is a tool on your website where customers design what they want to buy (a modular home, a pergola, a built-in wardrobe, a steel building) and send you a quote request with every dimension and option they picked. I build them from scratch around your catalog and your rules, remotely from Buenos Aires.

This piece is for the manufacturer: the one with a workshop or factory, a sales team that spends all day answering “what would one like this cost, but bigger?”, and a website with nice photos that doesn't actually help sell. Here's what changes by product type and what it's like to work with me from across the Atlantic.

The problem it fixes: quotes that start with no information

Across the industry it's the same story. An inquiry comes in through the website or WhatsApp with no dimensions, no model and no site details; your sales rep calls, asks questions, sends a PDF, waits, calls again. Many of those leads weren't ready to buy, but they took as much time as the good ones.

With a configurator, the customer does that work before contacting you: they choose, see the result in 3D and send a complete request. Your rep starts the conversation with real information and knows who's serious. I explained it in detail in how a 3D configurator qualifies leads.

Modular homes, prefab homes and bungalows

Builders of modular, timber or precast concrete homes sell something expensive that the customer can't see yet and that depends on their plot. A configurator lets them pick a model, add modules, rearrange the layout, change the facade and finishes, and see how it looks. It works the same for campsite bungalows or timber holiday homes.

I went deeper in modular home configurator, and the Estructuras 3D blog has pieces on prefab home configurators in Spain and on timber homes and bungalows.

Louvered pergolas, awnings and enclosures

A louvered pergola (pérgola bioclimática, as it's sold in Spain) is priced by size, color, louver type, lighting and side enclosures, and the customer wants to see it on their terrace or in their garden. A configurator with those options sends you orders ready for measuring, and your installers or dealers can use it on a site visit from a tablet. More in pergola and deck configurator and, if you sell through a network of installers, in dealer network 3D configurator.

Joinery: kitchens, built-in wardrobes and doors

In custom joinery, customers show up with a magazine photo and a gap in the wall. A wardrobe or kitchen configurator lets them enter dimensions, choose modules, fronts, handles and interiors, and see the result before asking for a quote. Your workshop gets an order with measurements instead of a vague idea. I covered it in kitchen and closet configurator.

Steel buildings, garden sheds and horse stables

For steel structures, industrial or farm buildings and garden sheds, the configurator handles length, width, height, roof type, doors and windows. I built a demo of my own, Estructuras 3D, so a manufacturer can see what theirs would look like with warehouses, steel buildings, horse stalls and modular homes; its blog has a piece on 3D configurators for industrial buildings in Spain.

And if you build stables or horse stalls, that's a world I know firsthand: I ride on weekends.

Real case

A real case: EQUIBOX

EQUIBOX is a horse stall and stable manufacturer in Berazategui, near Buenos Aires. I built their 3D configurator: the customer designs their stable (dimensions, model, walls, accessories), downloads the spec sheet or quote as a PDF and requests the final quote on WhatsApp. The company still sells through its sales team and CRM, but every inquiry now arrives with everything they need to quote.

How we work remotely

Mainland Spain is 4 or 5 hours ahead of Argentina, depending on the time of year, so we meet in your afternoon, which is my morning. You send me your catalog, possible sizes, rules (what goes with what) and photos of the finishes; I put together a first version you open from a link, we refine it together in stages, and at the end you get the configurator running on your website, with a dashboard to change options. I work in English and Spanish; if you need the tool in another language, you provide the copy. More on the process in custom software developer in Spain.

For invoicing, data protection for customers who submit requests, or cookie rules, check with your gestoría (accounting advisor) or a local professional.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to show prices in the configurator?

No. Many manufacturers prefer the configurator to end in a detailed quote request with no price on screen. If you want to show a ballpark price, that's possible too, but it's your call.

My product is highly custom. Does it still work?

Yes. The configurator doesn't have to cover every case. As long as it handles the most common options (size, model, finishes, accessories), most inquiries arrive complete, and the unusual ones go to your sales rep as before.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It's built so customers can rotate the model, change options and request a quote from their phone, which is where a lot of inquiries come from.

What's the time difference between Spain and Argentina?

Mainland Spain is 4 or 5 hours ahead, depending on the time of year. We meet in your afternoon, which is my morning, and everything else goes through WhatsApp or email.
